Virtual
Lecture - "Invasive" Species: Language of the Foreign Enemy and Theater as a Tool of Engagement
Join the Puget Sound Association on February 9th at 7:00 p.m. for a virtual presentation by Celeste Williams titled, "Invasive" Species: Language of the Foreign Enemy and Theater as a Tool of Engagement. Please register to attend by sending an email to pugetsoundpbk@gmail.com. A Zoom link will be sent to you.
Celeste Mari Williams is a playwright, television animation professional, and a recent MA in biology graduate. Her projects and multidisciplinary collaborations interweave arts, science, and social justice to foster trust, empathy, and emotional connection with human and wildlife communities. Celeste entertains and educates broad audiences about animal science and behavior, while fostering awareness and curiosity about social issues such as immigration and gender politics. Her latest plays and multimedia creations highlight language used to describe "invasive" species, which give rise to negative perceptions of historically excluded human groups. Celeste has presented her research and plays to several Seattle-based and national conservation organizations.
