Addison Miller is a rising senior at the University of Alabama, studying international relations, education policy, and Chinese. Her coursework in political science, history, and foreign languages has empowered her with a deep understanding of the social dynamics of diplomacy and a passion for utilizing education to promote intercultural understanding. On campus, Addison is active in educational outreach by directing Rising Writers, a volunteer college preparation program that partners with local Title-1 schools, and her research on foreign language education. Last year, she spent six months studying abroad in Taiwan, first as a Critical Language Scholar and then as an exchange student at National Taiwan Normal University. There, she collaborated with several professors to continue her research work in an international context. Over the summer, Addison will continue her work studying A.I. applications for Chinese language education before returning to Taiwan for an internship. She aspires to work through the public university system to build connections among nations through education and promote a future in which intercultural understanding defines our approach to diplomacy.
