Triennial Council Meeting

The Triennial Council is Phi Beta Kappa's legislative body, which convenes every three years to conduct Society business. Phi Beta Kappa executives, senators and representatives from the Society’s chapters and associations meet to charter new chapters, elect new leadership for the following triennium, and discuss policies affecting the Society as a whole. Although the Triennial is not open to Phi Beta Kappa's general membership, we encourage members to connect at other events around the country.

The 48th Triennial will be held in Portland, Oregon in August, 2027. Nomination forms for the Distinguished Service to the Humanities Award, the Sidney Hook Award, and Senators At-Large for the ΦΒΚ Senate are now available through April 30, 2026

Triennial Council Awards

At each Triennial Council, Phi Beta Kappa presents a variety of awards honoring significant contributions to the arts and sciences and to the Society’s mission, including individual recognitions for distinguished service and dedication to Phi Beta Kappa as well as awards for outstanding chapter and alumni association achievements.
