Amaya Solar is a rising Junior at Rutgers University - Camden, double majoring in political science and urban studies with a minor in Spanish. Her studies focus on how local governments can address inequality through policy reforms in housing, education, and economic development. Originally from Boston and now based in Maryland, Amaya is deeply committed to public service and community advocacy. She is the Co-Founder and Vice President of MujeRes, a student organization supporting Latina and women students through academic guidance and community-building. Amaya also serves as a peer mentor with Rutgers Camden's Honors College and is a writer for her school newspaper, where she covers campus life and examines how institutions and corporations influence Camden's development. Through the Bonner Civic Scholars program, she interns with Camden's District Council Collaborative Board, working on initiatives to promote public safety and community well-being. Amaya plans to pursue a career in local government, where she hopes to advance public policies that promote equity and uplift underserved urban communities.
