Amitabha Shatdal is a rising senior at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. As an Economics, Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, and Engineering student, he is passionate about using interdisciplinary methods to develop and apply technology in responsible ways to improve public services. Prior to his current internship with the National Security Agency, Amitabha worked as an election official for the City of Madison and as a policy analyst for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Having grown up mostly in Madison, Wisconsin going to public schools, he has always pursued research with the intention of improving livelihoods. His undergraduate thesis was on the theory behind Employment Agencies in the United States as well as the related historical practices that have proven most successful at helping both employees and employers navigate the complex labor market. Amitabha currently serves as an elected representative in UW-Madison's student government and has worked on a variety of initiatives to improve financial transparency and internal workings. His arts and sciences education has also inspired him to try his hand at building a newspaper and leading a policy conference. Amitabha plans to pursue a career combining entrepreneurship and public service. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing tennis, and exploring new places with friends and family.
