Andy Zhang is a rising third-year student at the University of Connecticut (UConn), where he studies Economics and Environmental Sciences. Currently, he serves as Student Body President, representing over 20,000 undergraduates. He is also the founder of UConn's chapter of Plant Futures, a student organization advancing plant-forward, climate-conscious food systems. Andy's passion for environmental advocacy is rooted in his family's experience with food insecurity and has shaped his work with Friends of the Earth, the UConn Office of Sustainability, and local government municipalities. This summer, he will work at the New York State Attorney General's Environmental Protection Bureau, where he will continue to contribute to meaningful statewide climate action. After graduation, Andy plans to pursue a joint J.D. and Master of Public Policy to shape equitable food and climate policy at the federal level. Originally from Sandy Hook, Connecticut, he loves learning languages, reading, and trying new plant-based foods.
