Madyson Chung Lee (she/her) is a rising junior at Scripps College dual majoring in Politics and Asian Studies. As a second-generation immigrant, Madyson is passionate about amplifying youth voices in all levels of government from school districts to the state assembly, , where she has assisted in the passing of California state bills like AB46 and AB367. Madyson's scholarly passions lie in researching resistance, from South Korea’s minjung gayo to foodways as a form of resistance among Asian American communities—particularly Korean women, a topic she researched last summer at UMD At Scripps, Madyson strives to foster an inclusive and diverse community of care serving as an Asian American Sponsor to first year students and a research intern for the newly founded Fletcher Jones Community Engagement Center. Madyson works to bridge gaps between faculty and students as the Scripps Associative Students (SAS) faculty/staff relations chair. Outside of campus, Madyson serves as a communications intern at Asian Americans Advancing Justice SOCAL (AJSOCAL), assisting the team in innovative nonprofit marketing. She also serves as a senior trainer at the California Association of Student Councils, where she coaches 400 students on leadership and legislative curriculum yearly. Most recently, she received an appointment to serve on Governor Gavin Newsom's Youth Empowerment Commission. After graduation, Madyson intends to pursue a J.D. to practice law focused on labor rights. Madyson is originally from Irvine, California.
