Rotimi Kukoyi

Rotimi Kukoyi is a rising senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studies Health Policy and Management with minors in Chemistry and Biology. A Truman Scholar, Morehead-Cain Scholar, and Senior Class President, Rotimi led the development of UNC's first-ever free STI testing and treatment initiative. Passionate about health systems reform, Rotimi has helped shape Medicaid policy at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and supported primary care innovation at the Clinton Health Access Initiative in Nigeria. He is also the founder of MeritScholarships.org and shares college admissions advice with over 45,000 followers on social media to expand access to higher education. His writing has been published in USA Today, Ms. Magazine, Teen Vogue, Truthout, and the North Carolina Medical Journal, and he has worked on both gubernatorial and presidential campaigns. A lifelong trivia enthusiast, Rotimi is also one of the youngest Jeopardy! champions in show history, having competed under both Alex Trebek and Ken Jennings. After graduation, he plans to become a physician-policymaker focused on equitable health financing and care delivery.
