Aneesh Swaminathan

Aneesh Swaminathan is a rising senior at Johns Hopkins University, double-majoring in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Political Science. An advocate for intellectual diversity and civil dialogue, he is the founder of the Hopkins Political Union—a cross-partisan forum for civic debate and discussion. He also serves as student co-chair of his campus Heterodox Academy chapter, supporting initiatives on free expression.

Aneesh holds leadership roles in the Hopkins Lecture Series and the Maryland Science Olympiad at JHU, where he helps organize science competitions for K–12 students across Maryland. His passion for teaching science extends to tutoring peers in organic chemistry and mentoring students in Baltimore City Public Schools.

His multidisciplinary interests converge at the intersection of medicine and policy. Aneesh studies organ allocation policy at Stanford Medicine, examining how national policy changes shape clinical incentives, transplant program behavior, and access to transplantation. He aspires to a career in academic medicine and public service, translating empirically grounded, heterodox scholarship into effective health policy.

In his free time, Aneesh enjoys mountain biking, reading, writing on current events, and engaging in conversations on politics and philosophy.
