Fareed Salmon is a rising senior at Yale University, where he studies the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health with certificates in Journalism and Intensive Human Rights Studies. His academic work has shaped his interest in food access, chronic disease prevention, and how health systems can better serve communities.
On campus, Fareed works on food insecurity through the Yale Community Kitchen, where he helped develop a transportation system to expand meal delivery across New Haven, serving over 100 residents weekly. He also focuses on making public health more accessible through media. He is the founder and host of Health Voices, a podcast reaching over 4,000 listeners, and serves as a community health reporter and SciTech editor for the Yale Daily News, covering public health and science policy.
Fareed has also pursued policy and research experience through the Alliance for Health Policy and the UConn Rudd Center for Food Policy and Health, focusing on food systems, Medicaid, and preventive care. He plans to pursue a career in public service focused on improving food access and advancing health equity.
