• 14 Wednesday, Jan Zoom Baltimore Association - A Consequential Case with Ron Liebman
January 14th at 7:00 p.m.

Ron Liebman is the Former Assistant US Attorney and a member of the three-person team in the US Attorney’s Office in Baltimore, MD who investigated and prosecuted former Vice-President Spiro Agnew.  The Agnew story has been recounted in “Bagman,” Rachael Maddow’s award-winning podcast and book.  The film rights to “Bagman” have been acquired by Ben Stiller.

Ron will provide an insider’s view of the story behind the story of how three young federal prosecutors, in the wake of Watergate, with the resignation of Richard Nixon a near certainty, managed to prevent what could well have been a Constitutional crisis.  If Vice-President Agnew were to step into the role of President with serious criminal charges pending against him, he would be considered immune from prosecution while in office.  Ron will also explore how such a prosecution of a sitting Vice-President might fare in today’s political climate.

After earning a JD at the University of Maryland School of Law, Ron was a law clerk for the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.  Following his service as a federal prosecutor, Ron practiced law in Washington, DC, most of it in what is now known as Squire, Patton Boggs.  Ron is also a published author.  His most recent book is entitled “Big Law”.  You can read more about Ron at www.ronliebman.com.
