Delaware Valley Association - Hawk Mountain Sanctuary
On Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:45 AM - 1:00 PM, see one of the natural wonders of Pennsylvania at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary on the Kittatinny Ridge, the world's first refuge for birds of prey where the local geography funnels migrating raptors, including falcons, hawks, and eagles, for ideal viewing during this mid-point of their fall migration. After initial programs covering raptor identification with the center's raptor "ambassadors", we will hike about one mile to the North Lookout (uneven trail, moderate difficulty, 300' rise) to spend an hour there with raptor counters + Conservation Science trainees to help spot & identify raptors. Bring binoculars if you have them, sturdy closed-toe hiking shoes, rain gear, hiking stick(s), water, sunscreen, and a sack lunch to eat at the lookout. Note: shorter hike (0.25 miles each way) to the South Lookout for those who prefer (even trail, wheelchair accessible).
Location: 1700 Hawk Mountain Rd, Kempton, PA. Car pools possible if the interest.
Fees: $11 for adults, $8 for seniors (65+). Last day to register: Fri. 10/17/25; rain date 10/25/25. Register here.
