Join us on August 23rd at 11:00am as Dr. Dan Miller of Historical Solutions LLC takes us on a walkshop of President Benjamin Harrison’s defining leadership moments. Dr. Miller has designed the Walkshop by adapting the “staff ride” concept of American military officer training to my own emphasis on storytelling and “table-topping” (which is an immersion into you-are-there real scenarios that Dr. Miller uncovered in primary research).
Topic: The Day Benjamin Harrison Joins the Civil War (Weds, July 9, 1862). The theme is leadership and major change. The tour will take guests to five places in the story of that day and immerse at each place in what was true, what was assumed, what was believed, and what happened at that space. We’re paying particular attention to the flow of time and the personal spaces encountered on a daily leadership basis.
Location: This tour will start and end at the Columbia Club on Monument Circle
Parking: Guests can utilize street or garage parking downtown or the Columbia Club’s valet parking (separate fee required).
Duration: the Walkshop is roughly 1.2 miles in distance, with the walking portion taking about an hour. We debrief afterward for 30-60 minutes. The debrief may occur at the Columbia Club or nearby, depending on the time of day.
This event is open to all PBK’s and their guests, but all guests are required to purchase a ticket. You can purchase your ticket here.
